Layerloop, an Italian pioneer in industrial 3D printing, continues its global expansion by bringing on board industry experts like Georgios Voerakos. With extensive experience in additive manufacturing (AM) and a deep understanding of 3D printing technologies, Georgios is a key asset in Layerloop’s strategy for Greece, where he will serve as the new advisor, responsible for developing the local market. In this exclusive interview, Georgios shares his professional journey, his views on Layerloop’s technology, and the opportunities he foresees for the company in Greece.

Q1: Georgios, can you tell us about your background as an application engineer and what led you to collaborate with Layerloop for this expansion in Greece?

Georgios Voerakos: My career in additive manufacturing has been quite a journey, encompassing diverse roles and perspectives. I started as a 3D printing designer and went on to work as a technician, post-processing specialist, application specialist, technical manager, and finally as a consultant. These various roles allowed me to see the industry from multiple angles—whether as a business owner, manager, employee, or researcher. I have experience with several 3D printing technologies, including FFF, DLP/SLA, Polyjet, SLS, DMLS, and robotic FGF. This range of experience helped me realize just how unique, reliable, and innovative Layerloop’s technology is—capable of solving numerous challenges across industries. To answer your question, the three main reasons that convinced me to join Layerloop were its unique technology, its reliability, and its great potential in the Greek market.

Q2: Which industrial sectors in Greece do you think could benefit most from Layerloop’s technology?

According to the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, there is currently strong demand in Greek industry for high-value products. Greek companies are constantly looking to improve by adopting advanced technologies, and Layerloop’s capabilities are highly aligned with these needs. I see significant potential in the manufacturing sector, particularly in machinery production, equipment repair, and product manufacturing. Additionally, sectors such as building systems, furniture, construction, and architecture could greatly benefit from our technology.

Q3: How will your experience help Layerloop support clients in implementing its 3D printing solutions?

Having held a wide variety of positions, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how each technology should be applied to deliver real value. My experience will serve as a guide to ensure that Layerloop’s machines are implemented in a way that maximizes value for our customers in Greece.

Q4: What challenges do you foresee in your role as advisor for the Greek market, and how do you plan to address them?

In building a strong network in Greece, I anticipate three main challenges, but I am confident in my ability to tackle them:

• Market Penetration: Entering a competitive market with new technology is always challenging. To address this, I will focus on targeted market research to identify high-potential distribution and reseller partners who stand to benefit most from Layerloop’s technology. By targeting niche applications that offer maximum value, we aim to establish a strong foothold in the market.

• Building Relationships with Distributors and Resellers: Developing strong relationships with the right partners takes time. I plan to carefully vet partners who align with Layerloop’s values and have strong connections in strategic industries. Providing them with the necessary support will be essential to ensure they effectively represent Layerloop and its technology.

• Educating the Market: Since additive manufacturing is still a relatively new concept for many industries, educating the market and showcasing its added value will be a critical differentiator. I intend to be a valuable guide for customers, helping them understand the unique benefits of Layerloop’s technology.
